What is this field of study about?
This subject of study is a very good option for persons who wish to improve their communicative capacities. We educate students oriented on journalistic and media tasks. In this connection, we offer two branches of studies: journalism and the new media on the one hand and branding and public relations on the other. Our students, graduates and lecturers constantly keep in touch with the media and media organisations. They take advantage of this experience while organising such projects as the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity (Wielka Orkiestra Świątecznej Pomocy), implemented, inter alia, at the Faculty of Political Science and International Studies. Our students are active and creative whenever they take part in actions and projects initiated by the SKN the Journalist Club (Student Scientific Society: Studenckie Koło Naukowe) and the Under Construction PR organisation.
Why is studying Journalism and Social Communication at NCU worth considering?
First and foremost, you will get in contact with young teaching staff who, apart from performing their professional duties, willingly develop their versatile interests by getting involved in various projects and social actions. Members of the teaching staff share their experience with students, for example when organising the events of the afore-mentioned Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity at the Faculty of Political Science and International Studies.
The second reason for studying Journalism and Social Communication is the possibility of acquiring practical skills during classes conducted by professional journalists from such media as the Nowości newspaper, TV Bydgoszcz, TV Polsat, TVN – as well as by PR and advertising specialists.
Another reason is the possibility of getting involved in the activities of scientific societies. Apart from these kind of the activities, students also arrange cultural and entertainment events, for example the Journalist Ball on the Grass or the Positively Informing Tram. They also take part in the MediaTory plebiscite, which rewards Polish journalists for their professional accomplishments.
The fourth reason for taking up the study under discussion are student practices (often payable) in well-known radio and TV stations as well as in advertising and PR agencies.
